Venture into a world of myth and history as we take a look at the mythical side of Korea in Project TAL, gear up for the Burning Springs expansion pack to Fallout 76 (including other Fallout news), and dive into the complex and recently released historical strategy game Europa Universalis V.

A New Mythical World Is About To Reveal Itself

When I say “about to,” I actually mean 2027. It might take a while before Project TAL officially drops, but based on everything released in the past couple of weeks, the game seems to be well worth the wait. After the success of games such as Black Myth: Wukong, developer Madngine aims to add its own game to the genre by focusing on Korean mythology. The fantasy open-world single-player RPG offers plenty of combat and action as the main character goes around fighting monsters. The player can even climb on top of the monsters to give the stabbing and slaying a bit of extra “flair.”

The relationship between the main character and the companions is perhaps one of the more interesting features. Along the players’ journey, they will come across multiple possible companions who each have their own personalities and unique abilities, which makes them perfect for certain combat roles. Working together with the different companions results in special attack combos and allows players to adjust the gameplay to their preferred style. Stunning visuals and audio neatly wrap all of this into a cohesive package and what is sure to be a beautiful game.

Project TAL is the second working title the developers gave the game, and they might make additional changes, so keep your eye out for the TAL name in 2027 if you’re excited for this game!

Fallout Receives Some Updates

As you can probably guess from the title and the image above, Bethesda recently celebrated Fallout Day and released some news about their popular game series. Although some events have already passed, the most exciting stuff is still to come!

Fallout 4 is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and will receive its very own anniversary edition on the 10th of November. The special edition will include the base game and all six of the expansion packs, in addition to 150 Creation Club items and a new Creations menu so players can mod their games more easily and create their own personalised gaming experience. Nintendo Switch 2 players can also start playing the game, as Bethesda is releasing the game for this console sometime in 2026.

December 2nd will bring the release of Fallout 76’s Burning Springs. The expansion will introduce Walton Goggins’ Ghoul from the Amazon Prime Show to the game world and provide a major map update, among other things. It’s a perfect crossover as season 2 of the show premieres later this year.

Players familiar with Fallout: New Vegas will be able to find little nods to the game in this expansion pack as well, celebrating New Vegas’ 15th anniversary. To continue with the festivities, Bethesda is re-releasing New Vegas in the form of a 15th anniversary bundle, which includes some new merch alongside a physical copy of the game. Be warned, though, it costs a pretty penny!

What Happens If You Play Around With History?

Europa Universalis V dropped earlier this week, and here is what we know about the game so far. The new Paradox game became available to the general public on the 4th of November. The grand strategy EU5 lets players explore the world over a period of 500 years, going from 1337 to 1836. Players can choose between a large number of societies and civilisations to get their playthroughs started. In Paradox’s words, the game focuses on the “concept of developing and advancing nations from around a deeply researched historical world, adding more detailed diplomacy, a more sophisticated economic model, a revised military system and a greater logistical depth that will challenge even the most experienced strategy gamers.”

The game leaves a lot of room for creative gameplay, but actual historical moments will happen regardless of the player’s decisions. Think of the Black Plague, the Slavetrade, the French Revolution, and the Hundred Years’ War. It creates a game that lets players explore alternate histories throughout the world, while still rooting the game in genuine history.

Paradox games generally have complex game systems with a lot of different components. Their games often include a learning curve compared to other strategy games, but this shouldn’t scare off new players. The AI and automation help a lot.

That said, pre-release reviews have noted some issues with the AI. Apparently, the game’s complexity has become too much for the AI to handle, making the game less dynamic than it could be. The AI element also results in “ugly” maps, with weird borders and clearly dysfunctional countries. Drops in frame rate and regular crashes were also an issue, but maybe the developers have resolved these problems now that the game is officially out.

Nonetheless, the game is a wonderful addition to the strategy game genre, offering players the ability to not only play around with alternative history but also with real historical events. And players who are looking for a long-term game may also find what they desire in EU5, because a campaign can easily reach 70 hours!
